Today I tested both methods side by side, and the results were so interesting!

💚 Blanched Basil Oil • Bright, vibrant emerald green • Fresh color that lasts longer • Smoother, more refined finish • Perfect for elegant plating and restaurant-style dishes

🌱 Unblanched Basil Oil • Stronger, bolder basil flavor • More rustic and natural • Slightly thicker, especially if left unstrained • Ideal for pasta, sandwiches, marinades, and everyday cooking

Which one would you choose? 💚

🌿 Blanched Basil Oil (Bright Green)

Ingredients

60 g fresh basil leaves

180 ml neutral oil (grapeseed or sunflower) or light olive oil

Ice water

Method

Bring a pot of water to a boil.

Blanch the basil for 10–15 seconds.

Immediately transfer to ice water.

Squeeze the basil completely dry.

Blend with the oil for 2–3 minutes until smooth.

Strain through cheesecloth or a coffee filter for a clear oil (optional).

Store in the refrigerator for up to 1 week
